State of the Map Latam (SotM Latam) is the regional conference of the Latin American OpenStreetMap (OSM) Community. Its goal is to bring together mappers, developers, researchers, academics, governments, civil organizations, and OSM enthusiasts to share experiences, learn, connect, and continue collaborating on the world’s largest open mapping project.
On this occasion, the eighth edition of the State of the Map Latam 2026 (SotM Latam 2026) will take place in Mexico City (CDMX), Mexico, from October 27 to 29.
We are excited to bring together the entire open mapping community of our region once again and welcome new members. Therefore, as every year, we are striving to create a space full of respect, inclusion, sharing, and exchange. Remember, whether you are an experienced or amateur mapper, a developer, a researcher, or simply passionate about maps.
For the organizing team of SotM Latam 2026, the priority is to foster an inclusive, respectful, and safe environment for all participants, whether they are attendees, speakers, sponsors, or volunteers. The SotM Latam 2026 Code of Conduct establishes the behavioral expectations that help ensure a harassment-free, discrimination-free, and intimidation-free experience for the Latin American OSM community and its guests. By participating in this event, you commit to helping maintain a space where diversity is celebrated and all voices can be heard with respect.
Expected behavior:
Respect above all else. Towards people, their experiences, their differences, and their needs.
Authentic and active participation. By doing so, you contribute to the health and longevity of this community.
Recognize the power dynamics that exist in different cultures. Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions toward other people and cultures.
Collaboration and active dialogue before reaching a conflict.
Refrain from degrading, discriminatory, or harassing behaviors and expressions.
Be aware of your surroundings and fellow participants. Alert community leaders if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in danger, or violations of this Code of Conduct, even if they seem insignificant.
Participants of this event who violate our Code of Conduct may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without any refund or credit, at the discretion of the organizing team.
